The INKOMANE system has revolutionized Rwanda's mining sector by introducing comprehensive digital solutions that address long-standing challenges in the informal sector. This pioneering integrated management system has transformed how mining operations are conducted, monitored, and regulated across the country.
Key Achievements
Since its implementation, INKOMANE has facilitated the formalization of over 13,000 workers through employment contracts and smart cards. The system has created a comprehensive traceability database under RMB operations, ensuring transparency and accountability in mining activities.
Enhanced Compliance and Monitoring
The introduction of the EBM (Electronic Billing Machine) system and real-time sales monitoring through INKOMANE has significantly improved tax collection and royalty declarations. Mining companies can now accurately declare their sales with complete traceability, enhancing transparency in the sector.
Worker Welfare and Employment
INKOMANE enables comprehensive worker welfare services including contracts, social contributions (such as RMA), and enhanced job security. The system promotes employment registration and formalization, reducing the high informality rate that previously characterized the mining labor force.
Future Prospects
With live data access enabled for institutions like BNR, NISR, and research centers, INKOMANE continues to provide valuable insights for policy-making and sector development. The system has also created over 30 full-time positions in tech services and continues to recruit talent for ongoing expansion.
